Iranian piano music to reverberate through Amsterdam

TEHRAN –- Iranian pianist Pejman Akbarzadeh is to give a recital of pieces by 20th century Iranian composers at the Bethanienklooster Hall in Amsterdam on March 1.
For the concert, he is to perform Javad Badi’zadeh’s “Cry of the Heart”, Shahrdad Rohani’s “Motherland”, Anushiravan Rohani’s “Mirage”, Parviz Yahaqi’s “Tavern”, Homayun Khorram’s “Sweet Fable”, Javad Ma’roufi’s “Jila Fantasia” Ruhollah Khaleqi’s “Runaway Sweetheart”, and Mostafa Kasravi’s “Shushtari Overture”.“When I performed these pieces for my entrance exam at Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands, the professors were enchanted by their techniques and melodies and I decided to perform these brilliant pieces live,” he told MNA on Friday.
Born in 1980 in Iran, Pejman Akbarzadeh started to play piano at the age of 9. When he was 18, Pejman published a book on 20th century Iranian musicians. He immigrated to the Netherlands in 2006 to study at the Utrecht Conservatory.
